Exercises You Can Do at Home When You Don’t Feel Like Braving the Cold

With temperatures plummeting, it is getting harder and harder to face the cold winds! During the holidays, we all find it hard to keep on top of our exercise routines, but it’s especially important through the winter to keep your mind and body healthy.

If you find yourself cutting down on your daily jogs, walks or runs, here’s eight simple exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home to keep you in tip top shape over this festive period.

8 Ways to Get That Blood Pumping

Lunges – Honing your balance through exercise is a great way to get more stability in your life, and helps tone your legs and glutes.

Push-ups – Push-ups activate many muscle groups and so they are an effective bodyweight exercise.

Squats – Squats keep your thighs and hips flexible, leading to less pain during the day. They also activate large muscle groups in the body, burning a lot of calories.

Overhead Weight Lifts – If you don’t have dumbbells, you can use bags of sugar or rice. Just lift over your head and extend then retract your arms. This exercise engages your core, and upper back, as well as your shoulders!

Burpees – Burpees really get your blood pumping! They are a great exercise for improving your cardiovascular health, and your overall fitness.

Planks – Planking was not only a viral internet trend for a short while! They’re also a great way to work on your core strength, supporting your balance and posture.

Sit-ups – Speaking of working your core, sit-ups are the go-to exercise for working on your abdomen, feel the burn!

Running on the Spot – If you’re really missing your daytime strolls, running on the spot might give you your fix! Make sure to keep those knees high to keep your core engaged, working on your legs and glutes as well.

Please remember that all exercises should be done at your own level, if you feel any pain, stop or back off a bit. You’ll do more damage if you push yourself too far.
